Madonna pays tribute to Jackson
Madonna started her Sticky and Sweet tour last night and the opening night contained a tribute to Michael Jackson. She was performing at the 02 arena ,the same venue where Michael Jackson would have played his 50 dates.
Whilst Madonna performed Holiday a dancer dressed as Michael Jackson appeared on stage with her dressed in a sequin jacket and a single white glove which became one of Jackson's trademarks.
As the dancer came on Madonna said to the audience "Give it up for one of the greatest artists the world has ever known - long live the King!"
There were pictures of a young Michael Jackson on huge screens and the dancer did the moon-walk as Billie Jean played. The dancer also performed some of Jackson's best known moves to Wanna be starting something.
Around 17,000 were there to see Madonna on her opening night, the first of two concert dates at the 02.
Madonna will next perform in Manchester before the European leg of the tour starts.
The show closed with Give it to me whilst Madonna and her dancers all wore a single glove as another tribute to Michael Jackson.
The words to Man in the Mirror appeared on screen and the tribute seemed to go down well with fans at the show
Fan Victoria Mears said:
"I really liked it. It seemed very fitting for the queen of pop to pay tribute to the king of pop."
Nina Lawrence, another fan said: "It thought it was good, but it was a shame she didn't sing one of his songs as a tribute."
At the time of Jackon's death Madonna said:
"I can't stop crying over the sad news.
"I've always admired Michael Jackson - the world has lost one of its greats, but his music will live on f
orever." .
