BAGHDAD, Iraq – Fireworks displays accompanied the joyous celebrations amidst the streets of Baghdad as the countdown clock ticked into zero, signaling the withdrawal of American troops in the city.

Following the escapades, Iraqi forces has been now granted full control and responsibility over the security and protection of the city. The
withdrawal of US military forces which is a part of a security pact between the two countries, is expected to give full sovereignty of Iraq.
Lately, violence associated with the
Sunni insurgents had erupted as troops started to pull back into their camps. However, it wasn't the case Tuesday as thousands gathered in a city park, singing patriotic songs, waiving Iraqi flags, shouting and simply enjoying the moment.
