On Monday, an L.A. probate court approved Michael Jackson’s mother, Katherine Jackson, for temporary guardianship of his three children.
Michael Jackson's father, Joe Jackson, told CNN on Sunday evening that he and his wife had been expecting to keep Michael Joseph Jackson Jr, known as Prince Michael, 12, Paris Michael Katherine Jackson, 11, and seven year old Prince Michael II.
He also acknowledged that the family had not heard from Deborah Rowe, the biological mother of Jackson's two eldest children. There are currently conflicting reports regarding Rowe's stance on the children’s custody. Some sources claim that she is planning to seek custody of all three children while others maintain that she will continue to waive her maternal rights.
Michael Jackson’s ex-nanny, Grace Rwaramba, is expected to fight the Jackson family for custody of the children. She worked for Jackson for more than a decade and claims to have fostered a close relationship with them as their father wasted away before their eyes. According to The Guardian, she said:
I had to pump his stomach many times. He always mixed so [many drugs]. There was one period that it was so bad that I didn't let the children see him ... He always ate too little and mixed too much.
It was reported on Sunday that the children wish to remain with their grandparents. The family is currently staying at the Jackson family compound in L.A.. According to official papers, an official custody hearing will take place at an L.A. Superior Court on August 3. Documents show that Mrs. Jackson has already petitioned to take over the children's estate.
