The Boston Herald has announced that Daniel Hauser, a 13-year old boy with Hodgkin's disease whose parents refused to treat for religious reasons, has returned to Minnesota.
Daniel had fled with his mother to avoid treatment forced by the court. Although no data is available, it was generally assumed that they wanted to go to Mexico. According to the American Cancer Society, there are an estimated 35 to 50 "clinics" in Mexican border towns that provide alternological treatments to Americans. These treatments are generally banned in the US because they are unproven or dangerous.
According to Google, Daniel Hauser arrived with his mother Colleen by charter flight at 3 am in New Ulm this morning.
Brown County Sheriff Rich Hoffman said that the arrest warrant for Colleen Hauser was lifted because she returned voluntarily. The judge who issued the warrant had said earlier that he was going to do so, if Colleen Hauser co-operated.
