The Simpson's Are Going Postal
Simpson's fans in the United States can start sending their mail in May sporting their favorite Simpson's star on the corner. That's right The Simpson's are going postal.
The stamps can be pre-ordered
now but go for sale on May 7.
The Hollywood Reporter
quotes Matt Groening:
"This is the biggest and most adhesive honor 'The Simpsons' has ever received," said creator and executive producer Matt Groening.
The show's executive producer was equally emotionally about being part of envelopes across the States.
Executive producer James Brooks quipped: "We are emotionally moved by the Post Office Department's selecting us rather than making the lazy choice of someone who has benefited society."
The postage service knows that the stamps will be a hit with fans and encourage people to vote
for who they like the best.
Only the five members of the Simpson family are appearing on the stamps.
The United States
postage service only picks 20 topics or people a year to honour for stamp subjects. The Simpson's will be the first television series to be honoured in this way while still in production.
On May 7 Matt Groening, creator of the show, James L. Brooks, executive producer and several of the actors are slated to be on hand at Fox Studios for the First-Day-of-Issue Dedication Ceremony.
A limited number of seats are available for the public on a first-call, first-reserved basis. Starting on Friday, April 10 those who want to see it first hand can call 1-866-268-3243
between noon and 5 p,. Because of the expected demand only one person per call may get a spot.
If you are a lucky requester have your driver's licence or another form of government photo ID on hand when you arrive to the studio.
