Cyclone Leaves Over 3,000 Homeless on Madagascar
Disaster management authorities on the Indian Ocean island of Madagascar report at least 8 people are dead and more than 3,300 are homeless in the wake of tropical cyclone Jade, according to international aid agencies.

Populist leader Andy Rajoelina ousted President Marc Ravlomanana with the help of the military earlier this year. The new government has not been recognised by the African Union and the resultant confusion is hampering rescue efforts.
Madagascar has already suffered from two cyclones this year, ”Eric” on Jan. 18 and ”Fanele” which struck two days later. The cyclones, which struck first from the east, then the west, caused much damage, affecting 60 000 people.
