If you saw Tony Stark in Iron Man, you must have realized that this guy is very poor at keeping secrets. The first quality of being a superhero just passed him by. But hell, it was one great ride. Now his real life alter ego – Robert Downey Jr. is proving to be no better!
And straight from the horse’s mouth we are assured of another fine installment with the May 2010 release of Iron Man 2.
In the first part, the character of Iron Man was born and he rocked, iron suit and all. The second part will delve into the man behind that glaring mask. There was a speculation that the second part might deal with Tony Stark’s alcoholism, but Robert Downey Jr. said that the choice for the story is more towards the human factor.
Is Tony Stark prepared to be a superhero - A look into the emotions that the character goes through during his changeover from billionaire playboy to the superhero?
Robert Downey Jr. says while promoting the film,
“We’re going for the interim space [between the origin and ‘Demon’], which is more a look behind the mask of someone who says he’s Iron Man and what it really is to become a superhero.”
The Demon refers to a 1979 issue of the comic book which portrayed the superhero battling the bottle. But Robert Downey Jr. says that this time the producers won’t take the story so far.
“As a matter of fact, I think that’s probably best saved because it’s such its own storyline.”
So let’s leave that for Iron Man 3 maybe, and sit back and enjoy a bit of Robert sans the mask.
