John McCain and George Stephanopoulos to Engage in a Twitterview

ABC's George Stephanopoulos and John McCain are to have a "Twitterview" on Tuesday, March 17th.The interview will be hosted on Twitter.

In an interview with the New York Times on July 13, 2008, John McCain admitted to not using email, as stated "I use the Blackberry, but I don’t e-mail, I’ve never felt the particular need to e-mail. I read e-mails all the time, but the communications that I have with my friends and staff are oral and done with my cell phone."
Now, John McCain, and ABC's news George Stephanopoulos, are going to particitpate in a Twitter sponsored interview, called a Twitterview.
Twitter is the popular social networking site, where the user type what is called 'tweets' that are under 140 characters long, often posting tiny url's to their blogs, or thoughts, such as, "I'm shoveling leaves today." Twitter developed microblogging Both men will join the microblogging community at noon on March 17th.
Stephanopoulos reported, "We're going to attempt to conduct a full interview exclusively on Twitter — complete with the 140-character limit," to connect to viewers of his show, "This Week".
The public will have access to the 15 minute 'Twitterview" by signing into the website, and following both
John McCain and George Stephanopoulos. On the website, the Tweets are, "McCain doesn't own a computer! Who's twittering for McCain?" and "Just heard this morning George Stephanopoulos will be interviewing McCain via Twitter on Tue.", which is only a mere sampling of the comments about the event on Twitter.
Stephanopoulos is having his followers to ask him questions in the under 140 character format. Stephanopoulos Twitter page has 162,250 followers as of this writing,and McCain's has 211,940 followers. Twitter is becoming more widely used by public figures to reach their supporters.
