Hasbro drops 'Scrabulous' lawsuit, but game not back on Facebook

Hasbro, copyright owner of the Scrabble game in the United States and Canada filed a lawsuit awhile back against brothers Rajat and Jayant Agarwalla who developed a Scrabble-like game for Facebook. Hasbro said the Agarwallas' game infringed on their copyrights and was created without their permission. The company event went as far as sending a take-down notice to Facebook. The brothers had no other recourse but to shut down the game on Facebook, and elsewhere on the Web they modified it, re-launching it under the name Wordscraper Today, Hasbro decided to withdraw its lawsuit against the Agarwalla brothers after they reached an agreement. The terms were not disclosed, but the Scrabulous game will not be back, which will cause further disappointment with fans on Facebook. Hasbro has their own Scrabble game on Facebook, developed in partnership with Electronic Arts. However, many believe the game is poorly designed compared to Scrabulous. The Electronic Arts game has poor ratings and plenty of complaints from Facebook fans.
