In the span of only a few days, those in Mumbai, India have witnessed and experienced an unprecedented and surprise attack of terror. It was an attack in which one British security official had
anonymously said that spy agencies across the world were caught off guard.
The group known as the Deccan Mujahideen that claimed responsibility is not a known terrorist organization. This group instantly appeared as a big glowing blip on the terror cell radar screen. It was an attack that took the world’s governments by surprise.
Another British official says that it does not seem that Al-Qaeda has had a hand in this attack.
The main targets were luxury hotels which lodged mainly Westerners. Another target that hit was the Chabad Center in Mumbai. The Chabad Center is a Jewish center. This part had brought the attention of the Israeli government.
Sallai Meridor, the Israeli Ambassador to the United States, had
condemned the attacks. He said that Israel backs the people of India.
So far, it is reported that the dead hostages at the Chabad Center were killed long before the place was stormed by an Indian commando unit.
It is still under
investigation on whether the terrorists were domestic or from out of the country. Suspicions have already been directed towards Pakistan. However, Pakistan had already condemned the attacks.
Where did the Deccan Mujahideen originate from? The verdict is still in the air.
