Ananova news sources claim that a British dentist, Andrew Bain, has been awarded a £1 million record deal (that’s around $2 million, my North American readers) after he wowed executives with his unique operatic interpretations of pop songs. This dentist has been bettering smiles for more than a decade, but the 34-year-old professional’s secret passion has always been to make music.
According to The Daily Mail, Bain recorded Prince’s Purple Rain in the privacy of his own bedroom and then sent it along to the major music companies, hoping for the best.
American Idol’s toughie judge, Simon Cowell, quickly offered Bain a deal even though he still had to honor his dental appointments for the next few months.
In the words of the happy tenor:
Not only have I finally got a record deal, but they also understand my eclectic taste in music... I feel that mixing opera with the pop songs of today is a natural progression…
The dentist has been offered a four-album deal that is slated for release in September. He is limited in the time he has to work on the albums due to the demands of his dentistry practice but he tries to sing every day. He adds:
Fortunately, I have thick walls and understanding neighbors.
Will the call of musical notes and fame lure this dentist away from his profession?
