London Bus Helps 55 Year Old Woman To Conceive

After 14 years of trying for a baby, an advert was slapped on the side of a bus in the south of the UK for an egg donor. Since then the 55 year old woman who desperately wanted a baby has now given birth to a beautiful and healthy daughter

The 50 London buses were advertising for an egg donor for Linda Weeks from Kent and her husband in a last ditched attempt to become parents. The adverts also included a picture of the couple on their wedding day. Since forking out for the expensive £2,000 mobile adverts, the couple found a woman who was happy to donate one of her own eggs to help the couple conceive.
It really was Mrs Week’s last chance as the NHS in the meantime, will not help women to conceive using IVF treatment over the age of 55, and after spending £20,000 on the treatment, the couple thought that their chances were slim. Yet for the happy couple, little Katy was born four weeks ago at Maidstone Hospital and weighed in at a pretty healthy 5lbs 11oz.
Mrs Weeks has been so overwhelmed over the generous gift from the donor who has not been identified.
"She is extremely generous and she has given us the gift of life, and has given Katy the gift of life. Whatever Katy becomes in her life, it is down to three of us. I'm just so proud and so grateful."
The advert had read,
"We'll never be Mummy and Daddy unless a wonderful woman aged 36 or under can help us by donating some of her eggs. You are our only chance of happiness."
It is the first time Transport for London’s advertising space has been used for finding an egg donor. Normally the spaces get used for anniversary wishes and weddings.
It is thought about 100 women responded to the Logan Centre for Assisted Reproduction in London.
The donor was not paid for the procedure.
