YouTube adds annotations and links within videos
YouTube has added a novel feature called “annotations” to videos, allowing users to add background information about the video, explanations or links to related YouTube videos or channels.
You can see a sample “annotation” in the video posted with this news article. With this new “
feature announced by YouTube” you can do the following:
• Add background information about the video.
• Create stories with multiple possibilities (viewers click to choose the next scene)
• Link to related YouTube videos, channels, or search results from within a video
• All of the above!
You will be able to add annotations anywhere in the video and decide the duration for which a message will be displayed.
To add annotations to your uploaded videos follow this simple procedure:
1.) Click “
My Videos” link in your Youtube account.
2.) Click “Edit Annotations”
3.) Add your message, specify the duration (YouTube will mark the interval in the video) and link (only YouTube links for now) information.
4.) Then click “Publish” as shown below, your new annotated video goes live.
This new feature will be very useful for tutorials or references. I've tested it out and it only takes a few seconds to add annotations.
