Awarding-Winning Hollywood Actor James Garner Has Surgery After Stroke

The legendary Hollywood actor, better known for his swaggering charm and all-around good guy, approach had recently suffered a minor stroke and according to his spokeswoman, also underwent surgery on Sunday this week. He was admitted into a hospital in Los Angeles, according to his publicist, Jennifer Allen and is said to be making good progress.

The 80-year-old actor who is still working, has been on our film screens for the last 60 years. He has given us much warmth and charisma in his films, that we wish him a speedy recovery.

Also according to Ms Allen, he is "responsive" and is expected to leave hospital very soon.

As pictured here, in the hit series western, "Maverick" in the late 1950's, he has been a regular presence on both TV and film ever since. Making his warmth felt on screen along side some of the best loved actresses of out time including Doris Day in "Move Over, Darling."

In the seventies, he made a significant comeback after a break in his career in "The Rockford Files," where he played a private detective - a series which ran for much of the decade. For the role of lovable Jim Rockford, he won an Emmy in 1977, the only award he ever won for a TV appearance.

Receiving a life time award in 2004 from the Screen Actors Guild, he later won an Oscar for his role opposite Sally Field in "Murphy's Romance," in 1985.
