Facebook has now decided that it will ask those who are under eighteen, who want to sign up as users to read the safety tips that Facebook has come up with. They will no longer let those who change their age from over eighteen to under eighteen without the approval of Facebook. The New York Times reports that Facebook plans to take down, within 24 hours, any inappropriate material that has been flagged.

Chris Kelly of Facebook says that the company is developing new behavioral technology to target those users who are friends of significantly older or younger age group. MySpace, another popular social networking site has also decided to implement tools such as this to ensure users' safety.

Although, there has been questions raised about who deserves more scrutiny. North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper and Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal explained that privacy problems showed to be more prevalent on MySpace than Facebook. Though, they are still making sure Facebook is on its toes as far as safety issues that do arise.
