The unnamed woman found the $1 parking ticket on her windshield and kept it in her records. Since then she wanted to clear the dues but left it postponed until now.

Last month, Police in the Upper Peninsula town in Michigan received this official ticket, a $20 bill and a note in an envelope with no return address or name.

The note read as follows:

"I always had good intentions of paying it. I put it aside and every once in a while I would come across it and said 'someday I'm going to pay it.' Now I think it's time."

She paid the fine along with late payment fees.

Police Chief David Outinen told The Daily Mining Gazette of Houghton that the fine for an unpaid meter violation increased to $5 after 72 hours but she paid $20. He said they were very surprised to receive this payment, no one has paid a parking ticket after so much time had passed.

The woman also left a short note and wanted to close this subject for good:

"Please don't try and track me down. I am a respectable lady,"

It is better late than never, maybe her conscience must have pushed her to pay in the end.
