The Communist island has gone digital and Cubans everywhere are now able to buy computers for the first time ever. While computers have been common place for many countries for the last few decade Cuba is just now catching up.
Yahoo reports that many different things were previously reserved only for the upper-class people of Cuba and were banned for public use including computers, cell phones, luxury hotel rooms and more. President Raul Castro's government is now beginning to relieve some of the bans in order to make life for Cubans a bit easier.
Not only can Cubans buy their own computer, they can now own the home that they use it in. State workers of Cuba were previously only allowed to rent the homes they lived in, no more says the Cuban government.
The mandate to allow anyone to purchase a computer was issued over a month ago but it has taken until today to actually go into effect. For the 'regular people' of Cuba this is a great day.
