Brandon Hill, a student at Cove High School has a father who is serving in Iraq. When Brandon answered his father Morris' call while he was in class, the school administration chose to suspend Brandon for violation of a policy which refuses students the ability to use cell phones during class. The policy in question is for the benefit of all students and the learning environment.
At this particular school with it's location near Fort Hood nearly half the students have parents who are in the Military.

Master Sgt Morris Hill had spoken with both the Principal and Asst. Principal before leaving for Iraq and thought the matter had been worked out. With Iraq approximately 8 hours ahead of Fort Hood Texas, communications between family members isn't always an easy matter to arrange, the schedule can be difficult to mesh.

In this case while Brandon was suspended, he has now been allowed back in class.

The matter did not reach a stage of resolution though until the local media outlet pick up the story and began to bring public pressure on the Cove High School administration.
