Firefly just will not die. Since its cancellation in 2003 it has gained a nearly unprecedented cult status among sci-fi fans. It has also garnered many spin-offs including a
movie, a c
omic book series, and a online role playing game. No small feat for a series that lasted for only one season before Fox gave them the axe.
Now, a second comic book series has been put into production and Firefly fans everywhere have rejoiced with glee.
Since
Better Days takes place before Serenity, the whole crew is present, even those who are destined for death in the movie (no spoilers here, just to be nice to those who have not seen it).
Firefly creator Joss Whedon (Better known for hit TV Series
Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel) and Brett Matthews are writing the comics, while Adam Hughes is doing the illustrations. This is the same team that worked on
Serenity: Those Left Behind, a previous comic based on the Firefly TV series.
Those Left Behind has sold over
85,000 copies so far.
The
first issue of
Better Days was published on March 12, and was 40 pages long.
Issue two is expected on April 9.
#3 is set for May 13.
The US price is $2.99 per issue.
