Text Messaging Can Be Hazardous to Your Health


There are automobiles with forward and rearward visual devices incorporated into the more expensive vehicles. There have been fore and aft proximity devices incorporated into the more pricey vehicles as well. However, no one, apparently, has installed proximity devices into iPods, cell phones and other such communication devices. Look for these in the future.

In the mean time, while we wait for such safety features to be incorporated into our various means of portable communication units, our neighbors "across the pond" in England, safety features have been incorporated into pedestrian walkway structures such as lampposts and similar structures.

A study has shown that 10% of individuals with text-capable devices have been injured while texting.

People who have been injured while walking and texting on their cell phones may be in luck.

A London street is experimenting with padded lampposts to protect those not paying attention from banging into them, ITN reports.

In conclusion, don't worry about being injured while WUIT...walking under the influence of texting. There will be a padded pole somewhere in the world to protect you from yourself.
