Rape just ain't like it use to be.

Republican Senator Doug Henry

An unsuccessful attempt was made by Democratic Senator Doug Jackson to insert a protection for abortions for child victims of rape or in cases where the woman's life was in danger.

Speaking in response Republican Senator Henry said:
“Rape, ladies and gentlemen, is not today what rape was. Rape, when I was learning these things, was the violation of a chaste woman, against her will, by some party not her spouse. Today it’s simply, ‘Let’s don’t go forward with this act.’"

Outraged women's groups, who feel that perhaps the senator is a bit behind the times on the issue of rape, have been posting the Senator's email address so that those interested can explain their point of view to him: sen.douglas.henry@legislature.state.tn.us

As the writer of Feminsting.com put it the Senator's remarks might lead one to believe that:
In the modern era, now that all women are dirty whores, rape is really no big deal. After all, women can just say no!

So ladies, what do you think? Can only a "chaste woman" be raped and must the attacker be someone other than her spouse for the violation to count?
