Israel’s ambassador to London, Ron Prosor, who happens to be visiting Liverpool, and apparently a big fan of the Beatles has invited Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr to attend the big birthday bash.
Mr.
Prosor has extended his invitation to all relatives of the late John Lennon and George Harrison. One such invitation includes Lennon’s sister, Julia Baird, and all other relatives of John Lennon and George Harrison. I imagine his list includes cousins, second cousins, ex-wives and girlfriends and just about anyone who stems from the same family tree. He also invited Jerry Goldman who’s the director of Liverpool’s Beatles Story Museum.
Prosor said, "I would be very happy to have them come on Israel's 60th anniversary,” However, in 1965, the Beatles were banned from visiting Israel because it was feared they would corrupt the countries youth. However as Dylan said, “Times, they are a changing.” And today the sentiment as quoted by Mr. Proser is, “Lots of music lovers in Israel, both young and young-at-heart - and that means me - are really waiting for them."
Will Paul and Ringo accept the invitation? Jerry Goldman seems happy for the invite. He said: "I've got close ties to Israel, so I'm thrilled. It would be fantastic if they did visit." But he added: "I know how difficult it was to get them to Liverpool. So I think there's only a slim chance of them going to Israel"
But, will Paul and Ringo accept the invitation? To date neither Paul nor Ringo announced whether or not they would attend. But there’s always a chance that they might be there in spirit along with John and George. It just wants to make you "Twist and Shout" now, doesn't it?
