Little Alexis Goggins, 7, had a stroke when she was an infant and has epilepsy, now is blind in her right eye and lying in intensive care after undergoing three surgeries as the result of a December 2nd Detroit, Michigan shooting.

Calvin Tillie, the 29-year-old ex-boyfriend of Seliethia Parker, 30, Alexis's mother, was waiting for them in the cold shadows when they got into Seliethia's friend, Aisha Fords SUV. Alexis sat in the back seat and her mother got into the front passenger seat.

Calvin Tillie jumped into the back seat of the SUV with Alexis and held a 9mm gun on the trio. He ordered Aisha Ford to drive to Six Mile Road.

"He looked like he was enraged and didn't care what he did. I knew if we went to Six Mile, he would kill us," Ford said. Instead, she told him she needed gas and drove to the Fast Stop Gas station in the 5000 block of East Seven Mile Road, a station that requires customers to pay the attendant inside.
As reported by detnews.

Aisha was able to call 911 on her cell as she walked into the store.
"The first operator clicked off and I dialed again and told that operator a guy with a gun was holding me hostage with a mother and baby and threatening to kill us. I told her the name of the gas station and then she said they didn't have a unit to send."

Aisha stalled for time pumping the gas and then convinced Calvin Tillie she would need more gas and took some of her own money in to the attendant who also called 911 when she told him what was happening.

This is when they heard the shots, during the third 911 call that was made that night.

Calvin decided Aisha was taking too long and shot Seliethia in the side of the head, she then lunged at him and was shot in the arm.

"I was trying to get the gun and trying to watch out for Alexis at the same time, but I didn't want to get shot in the back of the head if I turned around to her, so I just took him on to fight him for the gun," she said.

Then seven-year-old Alexis jumped over the seat between the two and begged him not to shoot her her mother. Six shots rang out, it is reported that Calvin Tillie shot Alexis without any hesitation whatsoever.

When the police arrived they saw Seliethia covered in blood running from the truck screaming "He just shot my baby."

Officers ordered Calvin, who was still in the vehicle to disarm, he complied and was arrested at the scene.

They found little Alexis on the floor under the steering wheel covered in blood with fragments of her teeth on the seat.

So far the charges Calvin Tillie are being held on include kidnapping, assault with intent to murder, child abuse, felony firearms and habitual criminal charges. He is being held in the Wayne County Jail.

Meanwhile little Alexis is still in intensive care, more than two weeks and three surgeries later. Her mother Seliethia was treated for the first gunshot wound to her head and the second shot in her left arm that has caused nerve damage is still lodged in her arm, she was treated and shortly released from the hospital.

"She saved my life," Parker, 30, said Monday. "She is a special gift from God."

A fund called the Alexis Coggins Hero Fund that was established through Alexis's school, Campbell Elementary School, has already brought in $21,500 and has been frozen until the terms of the special needs trust can be drawn up by a court-appointed representative. These proceedings were requested by the mother and family of Alexis.

Because Alexis has medical conditions that were preexisting she had been eligible for Medicaid assistance, but, due to the amount of the donations she could lose those benefits.

Sidenote: According to the Michigan Department of Corrections web site, the name of the accused is actually Kelvin Tillie and the name Calvin is just one of his many aliases he goes by. To see this information along with previous criminal history follow this link.
