The clamps on these cables were put on incorrectly and as a result the polarity is reversed, which when used can and have resulted in property damage, though so far the damage in the four reported cases are said to be minor.

They are being recalled specifically for the risk they pose of electrical shock and an explosion hazard to consumers while using them.

These particular cables, Valucraft Booster Cables, were put out through Auto Zone from June 2007 to October 2007 about a price range of 12 to 20 bucks, so check your newer purchases if you have bought them from Auto Zone during this time frame.

This recall is for the Valucraft eight gauge and ten gauge booster cables. The cables are orange and have “8GA” or “10GA” printed on them.

About 140,000 units that were made in China are part of this recall.

So check them out and if you happen to have them take them to any Auto Zone for a full refund or free replacement. You can also contact Auto Zone at (800) 230-9786 or go to the website.
