The woman, a 35-year old woman from Ness City, was taken to hospital after her 36-year old boyfriend alarmed the county sheriff that something was wrong with his girlfriend.
The police is now investigating what caused the woman to warm the toilet seat for so long. They wonder whether she was mistreated. The woman had declined emergency medical treatment but finally gave in and was transported to a hospital in Wichita, some 150 miles away from where the two lived.
“We pried the toilet seat off with a pry bar and the seat went with her to the hospital,” a police officer told
Associate Press. The toilet seat was only removed from the woman's bottom in the hospital. Police had found her dressed, sweat pants down to mid thigh and with atrophied legs.
Charges might be brought against the woman's boyfriend in a county court. An attorney is being consulted. The police checked out whether the woman had been glued to the toilet, but that was not the case. The boyfriend denies all wrongdoing and says he brought his girlfriend food and water, and that he had asked her every day to come out of the bathroom, a question to which the standard reply would be ‘Maybe tomorrow'. The boyfriend simply got used to it and failed to explain why it had taken so long for him to take action. The woman is refusing to collaborate with the legal inquiry.
