Cruise thinks the media is too focused on him and his marriage to Katie Holmes, so he wants to remind the world he can act too.

The media tried to get confirmation about this story from Cruise, but the spokesperson for the star refused to confirm whether he has officially accepted this part or not.

There was a previous story that reported the Scientology group was trying to build him up as Christ-like figure, so I would imagine this role could hurt his image? Or, will Scientologists be open-minded?
