FA decides not to punish Man City's Ireland for shorts celebration
The English Football Association (FA) has decided not to punish Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland for his "shorts-down" goal celebration in Monday's Premier League match against Sunderland.
Ireland scored the only goal of the game on Monday as City maintained their 100 per-cent record at home in the league, and then promptly pulled his shorts down, revealing a pair of boxer shorts with a Superman logo.
City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson had been worried the FA might not see the lighter side of things.
But the FA has just told Ireland to be careful, reminding him of his responsibilities as a player.
