Introducing Deep Fried Coke

Abel Gonzales Jr., 36, is the creator of the artery-clogging concoction.

"It all started with the Fried Twinkie and went on to other things like the fried Snickers and marshmallows. So people were saying, 'What are they going to fry next? Coke?' " said Gonzales, "And that got me thinking, 'Why can't I fry Coke?' "

Why not, indeed, Mr. Gonzales.

His recipe consists of a batter made from coke syrup, strawberry syrup, and strawberries.

Once mixed it is formed into balls that are then deep fried. Several of the balls are placed into a cup and are subsequently topped with whipped cream, Coca-Cola syrup, cinnamon, and a strawberry (we all know fruits are good for you after all).

This diet-busting recipe landed Gonzales the "most-creative" award at the fair.

Last year, he won the 'tastiest' award for his fried peanut butter, banana, and jelly sandwich.

The aforementioned fair, which is held in Dallas, is famous for its fried foods. In 1942 it introduced a cornbread-battered hotdog on a stick, now commonly known as the corn dog.

Deep fried Coke seems to be catching on in the fair circuits as it has recently been spotted in California, North Carolina, and Arizona. Try it today if you want a quick 830 calorie boost to your daily food intake!
