Buildings swayed in Singapore and some residents were evacuated after a powerful earthquake jolted parts of Indonesia late Wednesday. The Meteorological Service said a regional tsunami may be generated, but it is unlikely to effect the city-state.

The Meteorological Service said a regional tsunami may be generated, but it is unlikely to effect the city-state.
The quake measured 8.0 on the Richter Scale.
Residents in various parts of Singapore said they felt the quake. People in some buildings, including the central district, were evacuated as a safety precaution. dpa ry sc
