Sonos makes the Sonos Digital Music System which is a modular set of digital appliances that replaces the home stereo system. It can play Internet radio, iPod, CD music in any of the rooms upto 32 rooms via a wireless hub. The appliances are able to play either the same or different music in homes. Sirius wants to work with Sonos and bring their satellite radio stations into homes, so the homeowners can enjoy commercial free music in their own rooms.

Sirius with Sonos collaboration will deliver wireless multi-room streaming Sirius content via broadband. With the Sonos Digital Musical system or compatible systems, it will connect directly to Sirius Internet Radio and stream the music inside any room in the house. Current Sonos owners will have a 30 day Sirius radio trial to test it.

I think it is a great idea to bring Satellite radio inside homes, so listeners can have more choices than music from local radio stations. This will also help in areas where the satellites don’t reach.

With Sirius planning to buy XM Radio, there will be plenty of choices available for customers in both for their cars and at home.
