On Thursday, over 1400 volunteers arrived to spread out and continue the search for the pregnant 26 year old woman from Ohio.
Her disappearance was discovered when her mother, not able to reach her by phone, arrived at her home last week to find her 2 year old son, alone in a dirty diaper, the home ransacked. The little boy stated that "mommy was crying, mommy broke the table, mommy was in the rug". Those are the only statements made by the little boy that have been released to the public at this time.
Blake, the little two year old is said to be holding up well.
"He's an amazing child," Patty Porter, Jessie's mother said. "He has periods where he just lays his head down on the couch and has a horrible look of sadness. Then the next moment he'll have a beautiful big smile."
He is what is holding the family together.
Patty said on the "Today" show this morning that the show of support has been overwhelming. They are determined to find out who did this, and find Jessie. Her family is convinced that she has been the victim of foul play.
Authorities have searched the home of Jessie's boyfriend, Bobby Cutts Jr. twice now. He is the father of both Blake and the unborn child Jesse was carrying. So far, he has not been named as a suspect.
Cutts spoke exclusively to the Repository, an Ohio newspaper, saying that he'd be naive to think he wasn't a suspect.
"I haven't been myself. I can't sleep. I can't eat," Cutts told the paper. "It's been hell. This is like a movie. I'm just numb. I cry, I stare into space. I don't know — it's not real. It doesn't seem like it's real."
Gosh, I don't know whether to be happy or sad that the baby in the basket wasn't Jessie's. It just seems at this point that she has been gone for so long that there is little hope of ever finding her, or her baby alive.
How awful for the family and poor little Blake. One can only imagine what he witnessed.
