Pepsi is just releasing this flavor in Japan and just for the summer. They hope to sell about 200,000 cases over the summer months.

The drink is a green minty color and is flavored to taste like a cucumber. There is no actual cucumber in the drink, it is artificially flavored to taste like cucumber.

They hope this new drink will help bring them above Coca Cola sales in Japan. Right now Coca Cola Japan Company is the leader in sales there.

Aya Takemoto, spokeswoman of Japan's Pepsi distributor, Suntory Ltd said "We wanted a flavor that makes people think of keeping cool in the summer heat," "We thought the cucumber was just perfect."

Japan Probe's said
While the bottle clearly describes it as “combination” of cucumber and cola, there just isn’t much cola flavor to it. The drink takes on a somewhat sweet and fruity flavor, but the artificial cucumber flavor is noticeable, in my opinion. It’s interesting for a few sips, but then the artificial cucumber aftertaste kicks in, making it pretty nasty.

Videos of people tasting it can be found here.

Pepsi has come out with some odd flavors in the past such as Crystal Pepsi that sold for one year from 1992 to 1993.

Pepsi A-ha that was a lemon flavored drink that is sold in India.
Pepsi Am that is said to have more caffeine in it than the regular Pepsi so they had it marketed as a morning drink but was discontinued.

Pepsi Fire was a limited edition that was a cinnamon flavored drink. It was sold in sold in Guam, Saipan, Thailand, Mexico, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines.

They also had other colors in the drink, Pepsi Blue and Pepsi Gold.

Other flavors they came out with was Tropical Chill, Twist ( lemon), Vanilla, Wild Cherry, Strawberry burst, Raging Raspberry, Pepsi Ice Cream (Russia), Pepsi Samba (containing the flavors Mango & Tamarind, sold in Australia), Pepsi Lime, and Pepsi Holiday Spice (ginger flavored).

I personally do not care for soda drinks ( pop). If i do, I prefer the Caffeine free drinks. But somehow, a cucumber flavored drink just does not strike my fancy.
