Boost Your Metabolism the Natural Way
Fatigue and obesity plague many developed countries. This modern day epidemic stems from not only demanding schedules but also poor diet and health awareness. Here are some simple ways to boost your metabolism and increase your energy levels.
Your body runs on many different systems that are all intertwined and help each other reach maximum efficiency, but if you do not fuel and maintenance your system it can fail. Here are some easy ways to get the maximum from your body! Disclaimer: Consult a physician before performing any exercise or taking any natural remedies.
1.
Breathe! Breathing is the most important action one can do to boost their metabolism. "But, I already breathe," you may say. People may breathe but do not know the proper way to breathe. Ask any singer, the way you inhale and exhale are very important, and it just so happens that most singers are trained in the correct way to breathe.
Here is an exercise that will help you be more aware of your breathing technique and how to correct it for the best results. Take a seat and get in a comfortable position, now inhale. Notice the way your chest rises and falls. When you breathe in do your shoulders rise, does your stomach expand? When you inhale do you breathe through your mouth or your nose?
When you inhale you should inhale through your nose if you can. The nose has natural filters which keep pollutants from entering your body, also you have a more direct path to the lungs. You know you are breathing properly when your stomach expands on inhalation. When your lungs fill the diaphragm pushes down and the stomach expands to give more room for the lungs to fill with air. When you exhale your stomach should go back in and if you are aware of it push it in a little more to get out any stale air from your lungs. Open your mouth and allow the air to escape through your mouth.
Now that you know the proper way to breathe, train yourself till you can do this without thinking. You may get a bit lightheaded the first few times you try, but that is because your body is not use to working with so much oxygen. Be persistent. Once you are comfortable research some more breathing exercises, there are many you can do at night before you go to bed that will not only relax you but also boost your metabolism so you can burn calories while you sleep!
2. Multivitamins and Supplements. Lets face it in this rushed day and age the average person does not have time to really pay attention to nutrition. However it is one of the most important subjects. Are you eating to live, or are you eating to survive? People who eat to live know that the proper balance of food is important to having an energy filled lifestyle. Since not everyone is a nutritionist or has the time to really plan meals, one thing you can do is to take multivitamins and supplements.
Here is a cocktail that will give a skip to anyone step. First of all find a good multivitamin, Centrum is a great one. Only take one a day do NOT overdose. Fat soluble vitamins can be dangerous in excess. To the multivitamin add
Pyruvate and
IP-6. Pyruvate and IP6 have separate and important functions in the body, but when put together can aide in cellular respiration which converts the oxygen you take in from proper breathing into energy.
3.
Exercise. Well this is a no brainer eh? But not many people have time to exercise anymore, they are too busy working, cleaning, and taking care of their families that they forget that they also need maintenance. 20 minutes a day is not too much to ask, get up a bit earlier, or got to bed a bit later. Whatever works for you. Exercise does not have to be high active to be beneficial. A short beginners pilates routine can help you drop weight as well as help your body function better through the day. Jump rope is a good alternative to jogging but can be hard on the ankles. Yoga for beginners can be relaxing and promotes energy flow in the body. Find what works for you.
4.
Sleep. Yes you do need to sleep, and while the amount of sleep is important the right amount is worthless if it is of low quality. There are 5 stages of sleep that lead up to REM sleep which is the dreaming phase of your night. The more REM sleep you get the better. There are many ways to relax yourself before bed so that you may maintain a proper sleep cycle. First you must distress, take a bath, meditate, enjoy some tea, do what you need to do to relax. If that still does not work there is a supplement called melatonin. If you take it the same time every night for a week it will help you develop a sleep pattern and sleep deeper. Remember when you take melatonin, when you wake the next morning to look at the sunlight ( not the sun) and stretch. This ends the cycle of melatonin and helps invigorate your morning. Having the energy to burn calories means you need to be rested.
