Speaking at a campaign rally in Hillary's back yard of New York, Mr. Edwards dismissed comments by Clinton during a Sunday debate in which Sen. Clinton said the nation is safer now than it was before the terrorists attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. This campaign stop for Edwards was not not very far from New York's 'Ground Zero'.

Edwards also feels former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani stands no chance of becoming President as long as Giuliani supports the policies of President Bush.

"Today, as a result of what George Bush has done, we have more terrorists and fewer allies," Edwards said at a news conference. "There was no group called al-Qaida in Iraq before this president's war in Iraq."

Even though Mr. Edwards never mentioned his political rival by name, it was obvious Edwards was referring to comments made by Sen. Clinton last Sunday.

A statement issued by Clinton advisers said the Democratic 2008 Presidential front-runner was referring to improvements in domestic and airline security in the wake of the attacks.

During his time in the Senate, Mr. Edwards voted along side Sen. Clinton in authorizing President Bush's use of force in Iraq. Mr. Edwards was also a staunch supporter of the global war on terror concept. Edwards even held this global terror fight view throughout his 2004 presidential run. During his 2004 run for the presidency, Edwards was under the belief the United States was safer than it was before 9/11.

However, Edwards has since changed these views because of the deteriorating situation in Iraq.

While in New York, Edwards used this setting to attack the Republican candidates, and former beloved mayor Rudy Giuliani in particular, by saying these candidates were trying to act like "George Bush on steroids". Edwards was referring to all the tough talk Republicans spew when talking about Iraq and the global war on terror.

"If Mayor Giuliani believes that what the president has done is good ... and runs a campaign for the presidency saying 'I will give you four more years of what this president has done,' he's allowed to do that. He will never be elected president, but he is allowed to do that," Edwards said.

Katie Levinson, a Giuliani campaign spokeswomen, said John Edwards track record of predicting election winners speaks for itself.

Clinton's campaign did not issue any further statements on the remarks made by John Edwards. Instead, the Clinton campaign deferred to comments made by fellow Democratic New York Senator Chuck Shumer that were released after Sunday's debate.

Despite the Bush administration's failures, America's first responders have worked tirelessly over the last six years to make the nation's cities and towns safer," Schumer said. "As a senator from New York, Hillary Clinton is grateful every day for their efforts."
