70 year old Sayilu Pandla, and his wife, 65 year old Pochamma, were dragged out of their hut in the village of Upputimmayapalli, beaten, before being set on fire, by a crowd that included some of their relatives.
The mob was led by a relative of the two, who accused them of casting spells to make his daughter ill. Their protests of innocence went unheard, and they were burnt alive on a pyre.

Some of the mob have been arrested and charged with murder.

District superintendent of police - RB Naik, said,

"This is an uncivilised act and it will be dealt with very sternly,"
