Hercules the Liger

Hercules is what is called a Liger. His parents are a lion and a tiger.
He is about 900 pounds and over 10 feet tall when he is on his back legs.
He can run about 50 mph and he loves to swim in the water.
Lions fear the water, but Tigers do not. He can eat up to 100 lbs of food at one sitting.

Ligers have been bred in captivity since shortly before World War II. In the wild they probably would not ever breed because they are natural enemies. But in captivity it is possible.

Hercules parents are at the Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species, in Miami, Florida.

The video states that he is now 12 feet tall but he seems very tame. Imagine having this as a pet that you have to share your home with.
