First he went to White Castle, now he's off to college. Actor Kal Penn will give students a real taste of Hollywood.
Actor / producer Kal Penn, best known for his role in "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle" is going back to school, but not as a student. Penn will teach two undergraduage classes including "Images of Asian Americans in the Media" and "Contemporary American Teen Films" at the University of Pennsylvania in 2008.
"The Asian-American Studies Program is delighted that Kalpen Modi, aka Kal Penn, chose our program to host his teaching engagement at Penn,"
program director Grace Kao said. "Mr. Modi is one of the leading Asian-American actors of his generation and is particularly aware of how his racial and ethnic identification has affected his professional experiences."
The 29-year-old actor recently finished shooting "Harold and Kumar 2" and currently stars in the movie "The Namesake." Penn has also been seen in TV's "24," and "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit." His movie credits include "Epic Movie," "Van Wilder," and "Van Wilder: The Return of Taj."
Penn holds a Bachelor's degree in sociology with options in theater, film and television from UCLA and is currently enrolled in a graduate program at Stanford studying international security.
