A computer "glitch" has shut down the on-line filing system at the Canada Revenue Agency.
Most Canadians have received their last T4 and income tax documents, this is possibly one of the heaviest filing weekends of the tax year, other than the April 30 deadline.
As the people become more Internet savvy, there are more and more Canadians filing their returns electronically.
Sometime between Sunday and Monday, the E-file system was shut down, technicians say it is a precautionary measure.
"There is no indication that this situation was caused by intrusion, hacking, or computer virus," said Dorais. "The security of taxpayer information remains paramount as we strive to understand and correct this situation."
Emilia Kotris, a CRA spokeswoman in Winnipeg, said it's not unusual for the computer system to go down briefly on occasion.
"This is the first time I'm aware of anything lasting longer than an hour or so."
Anyone wishing to file a return by the e-file method will have to wait. The site is still down at this time. Let me know when it's back up, Thanks!
