An upcoming summit between Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Palestinian National Authority (PNA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has been overshadowed by a row.
According to a report in the Israeli daily Ha'aretz representatives of Olmert and Abbas have failed to reach agreement on an agenda for the summit. The Palestinian representatives demanded that the summit address permanent settlement issues, including Palestinian refugees, the status of Jerusalem and an Israeli withdrawal to the pre-1967 armistice lines.
The Israeli representatives rejected these demands, said the report. They wish to negotiate a Palestinian state with temporary borders.
