Kevin Hunter Memphis: Tunica Leads Mississippi Gambling Market in Recovery
Tunica, Mississippi (PRWEB) July 05, 2012
A new report finds that gambling revenues in the State of Mississippi have been decidedly mixed in the first half of 2012—but that there is room for optimism overall, in large part do to strong showings from a couple of key markets. The article notes that gambling intake in coastal casinos has proven very positive, while gambling revenues from river-based casinos have, to a large extent, disappointed. The region that still holds the most promise, however, is the Tunica region, located just across the state line, near Memphis. The strong history from the Tunica market has won the enthusiasm of many Mississippi gaming authorities, including Kevin Hunter, Memphis and Tunica business developer.
In fact, the overall financial reports coming from the Mississippi gaming industry are largely negative, but Memphis’ Kevin Hunter is nothing if not optimistic. The developer, who is heavily involved in the redevelopment of Tunica’s gaming industry, has responded to the new report with a press statement of his own, noting that the future of Mississippi’s gaming industry likely rests on Tunica’s shoulders.
“Tunica will always be a key factor in evaluating the position and strength of Mississippi, and the Southeastern US for that matter, in the casino gaming sector,” notes Kevin Hunter. “The mid south economy is now back on the go, so there are surely great things ahead for Mississippi gaming as an industry, and as a signifier of broader economic trends in the area.”
Kevin Hunter’s optimism finds affirmation in the new gambling report, which has positive things to say on behalf of the Tunica market. “Despite the bad [season], optimism is rising among those who watch the casino industry,” the report says, before naming nine Tunica casinos as the sources for this optimism.
While the month of April found Mississippi’s gambling revenues dropping by 1.2 percent from the month before, the news was ultimately better in this state than it was in neighboring Louisiana. “Mississippi's performance was better than in Louisiana, where casino revenues fell by more than 5 percent overall in April when compared to the same month in 2011,” the report confirms.
Meanwhile, Kevin Hunter is a Memphis business professional, currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer for a firm called Riverton Tunica LLC. The company’s goal is to revitalize and redevelop the gaming market in Mississippi, specifically in the Tunica area. Hunter and his company are involved with the development of multiple gaming establishments in the region.
