Santa Fe Bandstand is a free summer music festival on the Santa Fe Plaza, produced by Outside In Productions and a crew that strives to present the city with a wide range of performers, who represent the diversity and wealth of musical talent in this region. Performances take place Monday to Thursday, through August 16, 2012. All shows are free and open to the public. Week one features Joe King Carrasco and Mariachi Buenaventura, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, July 5, 2012. Known as the King of Tex-Mex rock and roll, Joe King Carrasco, creates a stylistic borderland of pop rock and Latin rhythms. His cross-cultural stew blends cumbias, calypso, salsa, surf, reggae, and Latin-tinged polkas.
Mariachi Buenaventura is Santa Fe, New Mexico's first all-female mariachi. The group consists of five to eight members. The ladies have a wide variety of traditional songs, as well as some contemporary pieces. The band provides entertainment for all classes of events, such as weddings, quinceaneras, birthdays, baptisims, church masses and grand opennings. Mariachi Buenaventura's talent, energy, and charm bring a special touch to every event.
