Ed Randall's Fans for the Cure Teams Up with Walgreens to Launch its Baseball Road Trip

"KNOW YOUR SCORE" campaign aims to promote prostate cancer awareness
NEW YORK, NY, June 13, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ed Randall's Fans for the Cure (www.fans4thecure.org) today announced that it is once again teaming up with Walgreens to increase awareness about prostate cancer in baseball ballparks across the United States. For the second straight year, Fans for the Cure and Walgreens are sponsoring a Baseball Road Trip, designed to strike out prostate cancer by encouraging men to "visit your doctor to check for prostate cancer, get your PSA score and stay in the game." The road trips kicks off on Father's Day, June 17th.
Ed Randall's Fans for the Cure is proud to be a "Home Grown Charity Partner of Minor League Baseball" as part of MiLB's Charity Partners Program. To that end, FFTC has spread its twin gospels about prostate cancer awareness and education since 2007 at Minor League Baseball ballparks across the country staffed by dedicated volunteers.
As part of the Walgreens Way to Well Commitment, Walgreens has stepped up to the plate for the last two seasons as a corporate partner for the Fans 4 the Cure Baseball Road Trip, which visits both Minor League Baseball and Independent League ballparks. The Walgreens Way to Well Commitment is focused on improving your everyday health through the prevention and early detection of today's leading diseases, like heart disease, cancer and diabetes. Their goal is to donate $100 million in preventive resources over the next four years.
"We're humbled by the ongoing support that our charity is receiving from Minor League Baseball, as well as Walgreens," summarized Ed Randall, Founder & CEO of Ed Randall's Fans for the Cure, who is a prostate cancer survivor and spent seven years in the minor leagues. "The work being done in dozens of ballparks this summer to educate men about prostate cancer awareness will promote better health, as well as save lives. Many men are unaware that a simple blood test can help a doctor detect prostate cancer in its early stages, when it can usually be cured."

The Baseball Road Trip entails teams offering FFTC the opportunity to hand out educational information about prostate cancer, as well as provide fans attending the games additional resources -- including prostate cancer screenings at select ballparks.

About Ed Randall's Fans for the Cure: Ed Randall's organization is dedicated to increasing prostate cancer awareness and education. About a year after Ed Randall went into remission from prostate cancer at the premature age of 47, someone close to him suggested to him, 'You should do something. You know everybody. Who would ever say no to you?' That was the genesis for the idea that was to become the 501c3 charity, Ed Randall's Fans for the Cure.
