In just the last two months, Brianna Rastello has:
1. Won first place at the New Hampshire State Science Fair - she also won the event in 2011.
2. Starred on her undefeated division one varsity softball team - they are now vying for the state championship as the number one seed against teams from much larger school districts.
3. Realized a lifelong dream of becoming a published author; her book “The Adventures of Sam Spike” has just been released by AnEx Publications and is available at Amazon.com.
At eight years old, not long after learning to read, write and draw, Brianna had the innocent audacity to think that the next natural step was to write and illustrate a children's book. She enlisted two friends and over a period of nine months got them together to work on this project after school. She never lost sight of the goal and made sure that the group stayed with the task until it was completed to her satisfaction. She never gave up on her dream to see the book she worked so hard to create get published.
Now, six years after completion, the illustrated children’s book that was “Written for Kids by Kids” has been published in paperback and as a Kindle Fire eBook. Both are available at Amazon.com. Ms. Rastello hopes that proceeds from her book might help her parents afford to send her to a top college. She is an advanced placement honors student with the academic, civic and athletic qualifications that should qualify her for admission into the best universities.
Mykl Walsh, her publisher, says: “It is no surprise that the eight year old girl who demonstrated such extraordinary leadership talents has grown up to become an accomplished 17 year old with a very bright future.”
Brianna would like to visit the children's ward at hospitals and distribute donated books to young patients there. She will also entertain elementary school classes from kindergarten to third grade, where her message inspires young children to dream big and work hard. Ms. Rastello seeks out donors who would like to "adopt a hospital" or "adopt a school". Anyone so inclined may make a donation of any amount and name the hospital, school or district that they wish to have copies of The Adventures of Sam Spike delivered to in their name. Inquiries may be directed to donate(at)anexpub(dot)com. Steep discounts are available for the donor program.
