BURLINGTON, ON, May 8, 2012 /CNW/ - IKEA has now begun construction on
expanding its current Montreal location into North America's largest
IKEA store. Set to be complete summer 2013, the new IKEA Montreal will
be 469, 694 square feet (43626m2).
"We are thrilled to have begun building North America's largest store in
Montreal," says Danielle Plamondon, Store Manager, IKEA Montreal. "The
new store will offer our loyal Montreal customers an improved shopping
experience with more inspiration, more products on hand and more
in-store services."
Upon completion, the new Montreal store will showcase 54 inspirational
room settings, three full home settings, a restaurant that sits 600 and
over 1400 parking spots. IKEA Montreal will also have a new concept
play area for children and will feature a new Markethall layout that
includes more inspirational product presentations.
In line with IKEA's vision to have a positive impact on people and the
environment, the new IKEA Montreal construction will take advantage of
available technologies to be 40% more efficient than the last wave of
stores build in the early 2000s. Moreover, in addition to jobs created
during the construction phase, IKEA will be looking to recruit
additional coworkers to join the IKEA family when the new store opens.
