The Disabled Veterans National Foundation(DVNF), a non-profit organization that exists to help men and women who come home with emotional and physical wounds after serving our country, has enlisted three experts in the field of veteran job placement for a groundbreaking free online webinar on how to successfully interview for a job and secure an offer for employment.
DVNF has partnered with Ted Daywalt, President of VetJobs.com; Jeff Klare, CEO of Hire Disability Solutions; and Diane Hudson Burns, a noted career management coach and co-author of “The New Senior Executive Service Application,” for the innovative webinar, which is focused on giving military veterans concrete tools for successfully interviewing and obtaining a job offer.
“This is a stellar group of experts who are well known for training men and women in the latest and best interviewing techniques,” said Raegen Rivers, Chief Administrative Officer of the DVNF. “We were intentional in bringing these leaders together, because we are serious about helping veterans find jobs that fit their skills, meet the needs of their families, and provide them satisfaction and opportunities to grow and succeed after coming home from selflessly serving our country.”
The webinar, “Interviewing Skills: Tips and Techniques to Land the Job,” will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday May 16th. Veterans can register on the DVNF website at http://www.dvnf.org/webinar. Participants also can submit questions ahead of time by emailing info(at)dvnf(dot)org or on the DVNF Twitter or Facebook pages.
Daywalt, Klare and Burns will each teach segments on interview preparation and how to successfully answer the types of behavioral questions that are a critical part of current job interviewing techniques. The webinar will prepare veterans to position their military experience in a way that convinces a potential employer that they are the best choice for their role.
Daywalt spent 28 years in the U.S. Navy and has been president of VetJobs since 1999. VetJobs is universally recognized as the leading Internet site used by employers for reaching more than 11 million veterans and active duty military personnel who transition each year. Klare is the founder and chief executive officer of Hire Disability Solutions, LLC, an employment consulting company that helps corporations manage diversity in the workplace. Klare serves as a consultant to many of the Fortune 1000 companies on the issue of disabilities and employment. Burns is a noted career coach and author, formerly a recruiter for a major aerospace corporation and special agent investigator for the Department of Defense,
The webinar is the third in a series offered by the DVNF to help veterans find meaningful jobs. The first webinar focused on resume and cover letter writing. The second webinar helped veterans identify and find open job positions that match their skills and experience. Both are archived on the DVNF website.
