San Diego and Carlsbad Proclaim May 7, 2012 as ‘Music Monday’ on Behalf of NAMM’s Annual Music-Making Event

The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) is celebrating an annual North American tradition called ‘Music Monday’ at its headquarters in Carlsbad, Calif. Music Monday kicks off NAMM’s annual National Wanna Play Music Week with nearly 600,000 students and individuals across the United States and Canada joining together in song and music making in a collaborative show of support for music education and the fun and benefits of playing music.
This year, representatives from the mayor’s offices in San Diego and Carlsbad, Calif. will join NAMM staff and special guests in front of NAMM’s offices to officially proclaim May 7, 2012 as Music Monday. Following the quick presentation members of the community are invited to celebrate music making with a live drum and ukulele circle.
The drum and ukulele circle is being facilitated by Christine Stevens of San Diego-based Upbeat Drum Circles, an organization focused on creating an experience in collaborative creativity, and by staff members from San Diego-based music product retail store Bertrands Music.
