Cabela’s to Hire 150 for Saskatoon Store

>PRWEB.COM Newswire

SIDNEY, Neb. (PRWEB) January 31, 2012

Cabela’s® plans to hire 150 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees to staff the new Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, store scheduled to open in the spring of 2012.

The 50,000-square-foot store will be located in the Preston Crossing shopping area at the intersection of Circle Drive and Preston Avenue in northeast Saskatoon, near the University of Saskatchewan main campus.

This will be Cabela’s third store in Canada, joining locations in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Edmonton, Alberta. It will showcase thousands of products, including hunting, fishing, camping and other outdoor gear, as well as outdoor clothing, gifts and furnishings. The store also will feature a Bargain Cave and Fudge Shop.

Interviews will begin Feb. 8 and continue through Feb. 11 at the Saskatoon Inn.

“We are looking for employees who fit the Cabela’s culture – people who love the outdoors, work hard and hold themselves and others to high standards,” said Rob Strawson, general manager of the new store. “Our loyal customers deserve a first-class retail experience.”

Applications must be submitted online. Anyone interested in applying should visit http://www.cabelas.ca/careers, click on “Apply Now,” then “Canada Jobs.” Then follow instructions to log in; search for Job Number 2128BR and follow the application process. Applying does not guarantee an interview.

Most employees are expected to come from the surrounding areas. Typically, Cabela’s attracts applicants with detailed knowledge about the outdoors and an aptitude for customer service. Strawson said the management team is in place.

Strawson joined Cabela’s in 2011. He has 15 years of retail experience, including seven as a store manager.

“There are a lot of outdoor enthusiasts in Saskatoon who are thrilled the store is coming,” Strawson said. “They know the Cabela’s brand, and they have been waiting a long time for this.”
