Richmond Traumatic Brain Injury Attorneys Applaud White House Research Initiative Targeting Veterans’ Health Issues

>PRWEB.COM Newswire

Richmond, VA (PRWEB) January 28, 2012

The Richmond traumatic brain injury attorneys of Marks & Harrison today released a statement in support of a White House initiative to expand the study of military veterans’ health care issues, like traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder, at the nation’s medical schools.

Marks & Harrison, a Virginia personal injury firm that focuses on traumatic brain injury (TBI) cases, said First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden’s Joining Forces initiative will provide needed medical support to 800,000 veterans who call Virginia home.

The Joining Forces initiative unites the Association of American Medical Colleges and the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine with 130 schools and medical research facilities “to leverage their missions in education, research and clinical care to train the nation’s physicians to meet the unique health care needs of the military and veterans’ communities,” a White House statement said.

Obama and Biden announced the program at Virginia Commonwealth University earlier this month.

“The advances in treatment and understanding of traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder that are sure to come from the Joining Forces initiative will move medical science forward just as America has led the world in so many ways for more than 200 years,” the Marks & Harrison statement said.

“We look forward to disabled veterans across Virginia and the rest of our country reaping the benefits of research that will one day mitigate, reverse or cure many disabilities.”

The Marks & Harrison law firm’s brain injury attorneys understand the complexities of the health issues faced by veterans suffering TBI and PTSD. The firm’s lawyers are also experienced in successfully helping veterans file disability claims and obtain benefits.

“While the Joining Forces initiative rightly focuses on veterans’ disability issues, its benefits will also extend to civilians who suffer from TBI and PTSD because of accidents, crime or other traumas,” the Marks & Harrison statement noted.

Veterans in need of assistance with veterans’ disability benefits claims for TBI, PTSD or other disabilities, or civilians who suffer from traumatic brain injury, can contact a Marks & Harrison attorney in Richmond or seven other Virginia locations for free, no-obligation and confidential consultations about the legal options available to them.
