SUDBURY, ON, Dec. 9, 2011 /CNW/ - Discovery Aviation Academy (DAA), a
division of Hicks & Lawrence Limited, is pleased to announce a new
partnership with Cambrian College.
Discovery Aviation Academy has recently entered into a Memorandum of
Understanding with Cambrian College. The collaboration's main
objectives are to offer students enrolled in Cambrian College's
Business Fundamentals Certificate program an opportunity to obtain
commercial flight training; to enhance the employability of students
interested in pursuing a career in aviation; and, to fill an ongoing
pilot shortage in the aviation industry. The Business Fundamentals
program is set up in such a way that it will give students valuable
post-secondary education, with a flexible course schedule allowing them
to take flight training full-time. Discovery Aviation Academy will
endeavour to offer internship and employment opportunities to select,
high achieving students.
"DAA will leverage Discovery Air's extensive network to give students a
unique exposure to commercial aviation that no other school can offer.
It is our goal to use this advantage and work with Cambrian College to
offer a flight training program in which students will travel from all
across Canada to attend," commented Jason Fogg, Program Manager of
Discovery Aviation Academy.
"This relationship helps us achieve our goal of establishing a pipeline
of qualified personnel into the organization," stated Mark Hill,
President of Hicks & Lawrence Limited. "Our company devotes a lot of
time and resources into recruiting new employees, and this is one way
to ensure a known-quantity of educated individuals trained to our
standards and requirements.
The program is set to start Fall 2012. Interested students can apply to
Cambrian College's Business Fundamentals program via OntarioColleges.ca
and for flight training by contacting Discovery Aviation Academy
directly.
