As a Third of Americans Plan Road Trips, Burt Brothers Offers Free Safety Checks

A Utah chain of tire and auto repair shops reminds influx of drivers that investing in maintenance can prevent costly repairs and wasted time

(PRUnderground) June 8th, 2020

Even as the COVID-19 pandemic lingers, approximately 31% of Americans said they plan to take a road trip this summer, according to a new survey from travel app GasBuddy. As Utahns hit the roads, Burt Brothers Tire and Service is offering free safety checks to help drivers avoid hefty repair prices, travel delays, and safety risks.

Burt Brothers is a respected name in car and truck care in Utah, with 12 tire shops and auto repair centers along Utah’s Wasatch Front. For 29 years, the family-owned and operated business has been providing Utah drivers with a broad selection of the top tires on the market as well as bumper-to-bumper automobile care from ASE-certified technicians.

According to owner Jeremy Burt, many customers wait until their vehicles hit a crisis before they come into Burt Brothers’ repair centers. “It’s often the grinding brakes or leaking fluids or warning lights that drive people to seek help.”

Burt said that rather than risking having a road trip, or even just a peaceful summer drive, be ruined by a major car failure, drivers should invest in preventative maintenance.

“In the owner’s manual of a vehicle, car manufacturers lay out the steps for routine maintenance as a car ages. Those are not just loose suggestions, but the things needed to keep a car running smoothly,” said Burt.

Because those manuals tend to get lost or overlooked, Burt Brothers has a system in place to let customers know exactly what the manufacture recommends for their make and model of vehicle.

Burt also reminded customers that just because their car might not have been driven as much during the shelter-in-place stage of Utah’s COVID-19 response doesn’t mean they should delay maintenance. “Even cars that sit idle run the risk for a weakened battery or air loss in tires, and now that things are warming up, they may need an A/C tune-up.”

Although most Utahns recognize that winter can be hard on vehicles, they may overlook the risks associated with summer:

  • Tire blowouts can increase due to a combination of heat build-up from low air pressure and hot pavement
  • Batteries can weaken prematurely due to high temperatures
  • Low coolant levels can destroy the engine
  • Car systems are more prone to overheat if fluid levels are not

Burt Brothers is proud to offer free vehicle safety checks at any of their auto repair centers to help Utahns avoid these summer driving disasters.

“Cars have a habit of not functioning when people need them most. Being stuck on the side of the road due to a failing vehicle is a costly and dangerous place to be. It adds a lot of stress to people’s schedules and their finances.”

If repairs are needed, the Burt Brothers credit card offers deferred interest payment options and entitles the holder to sizeable discounts on oil changes, alignments, tire changes and repair services.
